DEPECHE MODE will follow the success of their "One Night In Paris, The Exciter Tour" Pay Per View by releasing the event as a DVD with special bonus footage May 27 (Universal). The DVD was directed by the pioneering band's long-time artistic collaborator Anton Corbijn at the sold-out Palais Omnisports de Paris Bercy in front of 16,000 wildly enthusiastic fans as part of their massive 2001 worldwide tour.

Fans can look forward to backstage footage that features one-on-one interviews with DAVE GAHAN, MARTIN GORE and ANDREW FLETCHER as well as a behind-the-scenes look at how they prepared for the concert. Says FLETCHER: "It's fantastic -- there's some stuff like MARTIN singing songs in the dressing room while he's putting on his make-up."

In addition, the DVD will include interviews with fans congregating from around the globe for the concert. The show was shot with 13 cameras to achieve an incredible illustration of the band's intriguing and potent performance that gives viewers the sensation of actually being in the venue. The cutting-edge DVD will include a unique option that allows the viewer to select their favorite camera angles. Plus, fans can choose to watch the intriguing backdrop films Corbijn created specifically for the tour, accompanied by the tracks that inspired them.

In support of the two million-selling EXCITER album, the mega-successful and critically acclaimed "Exciter Tour" featured 84 performances for over 1.5 million fans in 24 countries. It included a North American arena/shed tour--on which they were joined by musicians Christian Eigner (drums), Peter Gordeno (keyboards) and Jordan Bailey and Georgia Lewis (backing vocals)--that visited 37 cities with multiple nights in New York City, Los Angeles and Anaheim.

"As far as performing goes," notes GAHAN, "I enjoyed this tour more than any other before. I really felt it was the best we've ever played and that the musicians that were playing really brought new life to the older songs and the new songs from Exciter. I was just floating out there."

DVD PRESSRELEASE

DEPECHE MODE "ONE NIGHT IN PARIS, THE EXCITER TOUR 2001"
A Live Concert Film by Anton Corbijn
Release: 2001-05-27
Depeche Mode release a high quality, highly collectable two disc DVD on May 27th on Mute. The two hour live concert was filmed at the Palais Omnisport, Paris Bercy in front of 16,000 as part of the bands massive 2001 Exciter Tour.

Directed by the bands long time artistic collaborator, Anton Corbijn, the cutting-edge Paris show was shot on anamorphic 16:9 Digital Betacam using 13 cameras to achieve the ultimate illustration of the bands striking performance. Anton received a Grammy nomination in 1994 for the "Devotional" concert film.

"Anton always comes to everything with a very unique perspective," says Martin Gore. "He always manages to capture the spirit of the band better than other people. Because we have had a relationship with him that has lasted so long, there is an element of feeling at ease with each other."

The state of the art venue was chosen "because the venue itself is probably one of the best in the world," says Andrew Fletcher. "Weve played this venue many times, many times so for us its almost like a second home in Paris."

Of the 19 song set, the many highlights include rousing renditions of new and old classics from Walking In My Shoes and Personal Jesus to Dream On and Freelove. Martin Gore showcases his poignant lead vocals on Home and Breathe.

"We couldnt have gone out and done another tour celebrating our past," says Dave Gahan. "It had to be something new. There arent many bands that can actually say after 20 years that theyre trying to be creative."
